Aggregate Films Development Intern Los Angeles

Working primarily with the Director of Development, I assisted with daily tasks, including coverage on different types of submission. Ranging from non-fiction books and news articles to pitch decks, pilots, and films scripts, I reviewed and evaluated each on their production potential. I helped to improve Aggregate’s own material by working on their pitch decks and proposals. I was invited to brainstorm and independently develop original ideas for critique.

Our COVID-19 Stories Video Producer

Initially missing from the from news coverage around the COVID-19 Pandemic were people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our COVID-19 Stories project, started by a team of doctors and creators, has shed light on the challenges of people with IDD and their caretakers. As the main video producer, I established the protocols for conducting and recording interviews as well as the submission process. For more information visit ourcovid19stories.org

It’s OK to be Different October 2018 - February 2019

It’s OK to be Different is an organization that distributes curriculum for schools to teach respect and empathy. I was first approached by the creator, Lauraine Gaunt, in 2017 to to use my original documentary, Relief, which explored the experience of being gay from various perspectives. The film was integrated into their LGBTQ+ curriculum and I was also invited to schools to talk about the project and my own experiences as part of the LGBTQ+ community. In October of 2018 I was tasked to create an original video to celebrate their 40th anniversary of the organization.

Radio

88.9 WERS On-Air Host

Starting in August of 2017, I was given a four hour slot on 88.9 WERS, an alternative music public radio station. Starting off as a pre-recorded show, my early morning slot would transform into a live Sunday night program. I also helped at the station with different fundraising campaigns to keep our station commercial free. This included on-air fundraising, mail campaigns, and phone banking during our biannual fundraising weeks. As a large radio station, we would often be at concerts giving out merchandise and talking with listeners. One of the most unique experiences was helping to film artists who came and recorded live sets in our studio with our video producer.

WECB.FM On-Air Host

Emerson’s independent radio station, WECB, gave me an opportunity to pilot my own shows that could break away from the tried and true methods of WERS. During my time at WECB I co-hosted two different shows alongside my co-host, Haley Mendoza. Our two shows explored new music from local artists around Boston and our respective hometowns. Each week we would draw audiences in with new music from popular alternative artists before diving into lesser known artists that we hoped to highlight.

Breaking News and Common Agenda

These two student produced shows gave me my first experience of working in studio. Starting as a PA on both I would cycle between various studio and control room positions. Eventually I would work as an Associate Producer on Breaking News working primarily on pre-production, but always ready to fill on for position on our shoots.

Emerson Channel Comedy Special

Emerson’s comedy community has a lot of different performances, but the Comedy Special is the premiere opportunity for comics to feel the true atmosphere of a standup special. As an associate producer I helped with overall vision of the special and technical set up. This included a mobile studio set up of over 8 cameras, communicating with other production clubs to borrow equipment, and managing the live audience for each show. With over fifty crew members, featuring six comics, we put on two live shows that were cut live and then re-edited for a later broadcast on the Emerson Channel.
